Hey friends! I wanted to formally share my engagement with all of y’all!! As of July 14th, 2017…… I AM ENGAGED 💕 Most of you don’t know how my fiancé and I first met, so I’m going to share our story with you. Everyone likes a good love story right?! Okay, well if you don’t I guess you wouldn’t be reading this post lol. However, if you don’t like love stories I’m not forcing you to read it (The last part of the post is the best)

How it all started…

Seven years ago, Hunter and I crossed paths while hanging out with friends one night. After that night, he sent me a friend request (and when you are 16 you accept them all..right)? Okay, well needless to say he messaged me. I know what you’re thinking…we started messaging back and forth from this point on, fell deeply in love, and here we are 7 years later, engaged. Nope, you’re wrong. At the time when he messaged me, I wasn’t interested. Strangely enough he had the nerve to tell me in the last message he sent 7 years ago, “I’m going to Marry you one day.” Funny, he was right. We didn’t have much communication over the next few years (unless you count Instagram likes). Fast forward 3 years later. My friend and I planned a trip to Pennsylvania for July 4th weekend. I was so excited about the trip, I posted about my trip on Facebook. Hunter must have seen my post because I received a surprising voicemail a few days before I left. In the voicemail Hunter asked if I would visit him while I was there.

He was playing football for Penn State at the time and Happy Valley (Penn State) happened to be on our route. Since I was already in route to Pennsylvania I figured why not stop by and say hey. After dropping my friend off I made my way to Happy Valley. I pulled into the parking lot to find him eagerly waiting for me. He walked me to his apartment and introduced me to his roommates, we sat and talked for hours catching up on lost time. We realized we had a lot in common and both had a great sense of humor. That night we made our way to Beaver Stadium to the watch fireworks (and boy…were there fireworks)! To make a long story short the rest was history. The next few months involved me driving back and forth to Penn State for home games and visits. I guess I liked him because it was a long 9 hour drive from NC.

After the season Hunter decided to transfer to UNC Chapel Hill for his last 3 years of school so he could be closer to me.  Since this is a blog post and not a book,  I won’t bore you with every little detail, but i’ll give you the highlights. The following January Hunter made the move to Chapel Hill, NC, which was only 15 minutes from my condo. It was soo nice having him close and not having to drive hours just to see each other. Once he was settled in Chapel Hill  we decided to make our first decision as a couple and get a long haired miniature daschund, his name is Peanut. Peanut is by far one of the best things in our lives (we are super obsessed with our dog). Two Football season followed and our relationship grew together and with the Lord. Side note; no one is perfect and every relationship has flaws but if you love someone you make sacrifices to be with them, and do everything you can to make it work. Hunter and I have a great relationship but we wouldn’t be where we are today without the Lord. I am so thankful we are at this place in our relationship, and we owe it all to the man upstairs.

Keep moving forward after 3 more years of countless laughs, football games, and unforgettable memories, I am now proud to call him my fiancé.

Now to the good stuff you all have been waiting for…how he proposed!

For the past year Hunter and I had been talking about marriage and wanting to start a life together, when he took me ring shopping, I knew it was real. Hunter knew I wouldn’t want something that anyone else had, so he took me to have a custom ring made. I was so excited and I knew since he had me pick out a ring, that he must be planning to propose soon!

He knew I would be suspicious, so every weekend from this point on he would tell me dress up, and take me to a romantic dinner. I literally thought he was going to propose every time,😆 but he didn’t. I had no idea what was going on. Hunters Birthday was a few weeks ago and I made plans to throw him a Birthday/ tailgate party at the Deirks Bentley concert in Raleigh. I also reserved us a weekend getaway at the Umstead Hotel and Spa. I invited all of our friends to join us at the concert. We arrived early to begin celebrating. After everyone got there and was having a good time Hunter said that I should take pictures for the blog. I agreed and thought that was a great idea. I was taking pictures of my friends when Tommy, one of Hunters teammates, asked if I wanted a picture of Hunter and I together. Of course I said and yelled for Hunter to come take pictures with me. Little did I know, it was all part of his master plan. Everything was normal until I noticed everyone started gathering around us. Phones came out and I got nervous not knowing what was going on….next thing I know, Hunter is on one knee asking me to marry him. The water works started and a huge sign he had made went up beside us that said, “Jamie Lee, will you marry me?” With no question I said YES with tears in my eyes. This was by far one of the most memorable experinces of my life so far, with all of my friends by my side. I got to say yes to the bad boy that turned into a good man for me. It couldn’t have been any more perfect and I’m so excited to marry the man of my dreams in October 2018!!

I can’t wait to marry this sweet man who goes above and beyond to make sure I am happy all the time! I don’t know what I would do without you!

Chillin with my Fiancé at the Umstead pool the next day after the spa!

Sorry for the picture overload, I hope you enjoyed reading our story!
